April LINKS Event: Considerations in Design and Lifetime Use of a Playground
April 1, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Join Tanner McNamara and Zach Herren for a one-hour program which provides a case-study in the ground-up design and use of a playground. Starting from the current landscape, or the purposeful design of a landscape, we will discuss the opportunities available for how the customer team can bring the project vision to life. Through the case-study, we will discuss common misconceptions and missed opportunities which often affect budget, safety, play value, accessibility, community impact and more. Additionally, we will discuss considerations in achieving the desired emotional impact of the space which often includes different age groups, abilities, and expectations.
Learning Objectives:
- Compare and evaluate the different types of safety surfacing to find the most appropriate for your project.
- Compare and evaluate advantages/disadvantages (pros & cons) of Post & Platform, Rope Play, and landscape play.
- How can a play consultant provide value engineering to assist in exceeding customer expectations?
- How can safety surfacing become a play event?
- Understand Universal Play and its implementation for the community.
