Center Presents KC Design Week: Girl Scout Design Challenge
April 18, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
AIA Kansas City and Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri are excited to introduce the Girl Scout Design Challenge (GSDC). GSDC is a mentorship program for 6th-12th grade Girl Scouts that pairs them with female design professionals to learn about the fields of architecture, graphic design, urban planning, landscape architecture, and interior design. The goal is to help the girls learn about these professional fields and spark their interest in pursuing a career in one of these areas.
GSDC consists of 4 teams, each made up of 7-8 Girl Scouts and 3-5 mentors who will work together from January to April. Their challenge…design a brand new component to be incorporated into Camp Tongawood, a Girl Scout camp property in Tonganoxie, Kansas. On April 18th, these teams will reveal their program concepts and share their vision for Camp Tongawood. Teams will present to a jury panel of design professionals.
