Appearance & Performance: A look at Stapleton's Park

Stapleton, a smart growth development located in Denver, Colorado, is one of the largest urban infill projects in the US to date. Upon final build-out, its interconnected park network will encompass 1,116 acres, nearly 25% of the overall development. Consisting of various park typologies -- including traditional, ecological, and hybrid -- the park system accommodates a full range of passive and active recreation amenities.

Jessica Canfield, an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at Kansas State University, will present her recent research on the appearance and performance of Stapleton’s community parks. Join us to hear her findings from a collaborative parks preference survey, unveiling what residents think about their eco-conscious parks system; including its scenic qualities, safety, and usability. Jessica will also discuss findings from her recently completed Landscape Architecture Foundation case study on the landscape performance of Westerly Creek at Stapleton.
