June 2017– President’s Report
Hello Membership! My apologies for being so late with my newsletter this month.
I want to thank our award winners and everyone that attended our annual PGASLA Awards Gala on Saturday, May 6th. I also want to give a special thanks to Claudia West and ASLA National President-Elect Greg Miller for speaking with our audience.
Social Club! Michael Killeen and Ninah Butler have put plans in motion for the next PGASLA social event. Summer is upon us and it’s time for our second Social Club…..we’re headed to the Northland for some pickleball mania! Join us for an afternoon pickleballin’ and socializing with your fellow LA’s. The event will be held on Thursday, June 22nd, from 4:30-6:30 pm at Chicken & Pickle (1761 Burlington St., North KC, MO 64116). Registration is open to all, and food will be provided!
2017-2018 PGASLA Executive Committee Officer Elections are right around the corner. We need to fill the ballot with passionate and energetic candidates, so please get involved. If you don’t think you want to get involved with the executive committee, please work to help generate some interest. This next coming year is going to be especially amazing, because we are hosting the Central States Conference - and our current President-Elect Chris Cline is going to need all the help he can get. We need to complete our ballot by July 1st - so I look forward to hearing from you. Here are the following executive committee positions that will need to be filled: President-Elect, Vice-President of Communications, Secretary, Manhattan Member-at-Large, and Wichita Member-at-Large.
Lastly, I would like to thank Meredith VerSteeg for her service as Secretary this year to our Chapter. Meredith has accepted a new position with a design firm in Washington DC, and will be missed. Good luck in your future endeavors! At the same time - I would also like to welcome Chris Sanders, a landscape architect with SWT, as Meredith’s replacement. Per the Chapter’s procedural bylaws, the Executive Committee held a special vote to officially nominate and swear-in Chris. Chris is new to Kansas City, but has been involved in the St. Louis Chapter’s Executive Committee, and wanted to remain involved in ASLA with his new home in KC. Thank you for jumping right in and helping fulfill Meredith’s term!
As always, please keep your eyes peeled for upcoming PGASLA LINKS event invites via email.
